Las Vegas oddsmakers have opened Georgia as an 11 1/2-point favorite over Texas in the Sugar Bowl.
This will be Georgia’s 10th trip to the Sugar Bowl, and the Bulldogs first since a 41-10 victory over Hawaii in the 2008 season.
The No. 5 Bulldogs (11-2) and No. 14 Longhorns (9-4) have never met before in a Sugar Bowl, although their head coaches faced off as coordinators. While Kirby Smart was Alabama’s defensive coordinator and Texas head coach Tom Herman was the Ohio State offensive coordinator in 2014, the Buckeyes defeated the Crimson Tide 42-35 in New Orleans in the college football semifinal.
