Georgia offensive lineman Sage Hardin is giving up football.
Hardin announced Tuesday night on Twitter that he has retired from the sport for medical reasons.
Hardin, a redshirt sophomore, said his decision comes with a “heavy heart” following “multiple surgeries, many months of rehab, and non-stop prayer.”
“… it is in my best interest to discontinue playing the game that I have known and loved since I was a young boy,” Hardin wrote. “The decision to medically retire revolves around me coming to terms with what my body can and can’t do physically. My body no longer enables me to do activities like football that God once blessed me with, for I cannot sit in a chair without pain, nor can I hardly run.
