ATHENS, Ga.— Roquan Smith has made a name for himself in 2017. The junior inside linebacker currently leads the team in tackles with 70 for the season. He has also racked up nine quarterback pressures, 2.5 sacks, and two pass breakups.
Smith is playing so well this season that he could be the next player from his position group to be picked in the first round of the NFL draft. The last time that happened with a UGA linebacker was in 2013 with Alec Ogletree.
Now in his second season playing under Kirby Smart, the Dawgs coach says Smith’s ascension has been hard-earned.
