Georgia hosting a ‘Freshman Day’ for 2019 recruits

Yep, 2019.

New defensive coordinator Mel Tucker said the staff doesn’t really know all of the top 2019 prospects, so the “Freshman Day” idea was born. The staff reached out to the selected 50 players, and was pleased with the quick response.

One recruiting priority for Georgia is keeping more of the top in-state prospects at home. For instance, Georgia signed just two of the state’s consensus top-10 prospects in the 2016 recruiting cycle, five in the 2015 recruiting class and three in the 2014 recruiting cycle. The idea behind “Freshman Day” is building as close a relationship as possible with top-level recruits as soon as possible.
