If you can’t beat them, lure away their assistants.
Georgia may have bested Oklahoma 54-48 in the Rose Bowl, but the Sooners are now raiding Athens to bring Bulldog tight ends coach/special teams coordinator Shane Beamer to Norman. Beamer will serve as assistant head coach for offense, working with Sooner head coach Lincoln Riley on offensive game planning.
Beamer’s tight end unit wasn’t terribly productive in either 2016 or 2017. But he was a solid recruiter and (along with analyst Scott Fountain, student assistant Kevin Butler, and others) helped turn the UGA special teams into a strength.
