Former University of Georgia defensive end and longtime Carolina Panther Charles Johnson has officially announced his retirement from the NFL.
Johnson was taken in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Panthers, where he went on to a successful 11 year career with the club.
After playing sparingly in his first few seasons, Johnson eventually made a name for himself as one of the league’s most dominant ends, averaging 10.5 sacks from 2010 to 2014.
Ranking second-most in team history behind Julius Peppers, Johnson tallied 67.5 sacks in his career. His 20 career forced fumbles are also second-most behind Peppers’ 32.
