Georgia freshman Nakobe Dean has been crisscrossing the country collecting national high school football awards. This latest accolade not only recognizes his football prowess, but his academic and community achievements as well.
On Saturday night in Washington D.C., Dean was awarded the Franklin D. Watkins Memorial Award. Dean, the 2018 Gatorade Player of the Year in Mississippi, led Horn Lakes High to a 15-0 record and the school’s first state title.
In the classroom, the 6 foot, 220-pound linebacker carried a 4.3 grade point average and was active as an elementary school mentor and Toys for Tots volunteer.
