As expected, Georgia freshman defensive end Chauncey Rivers will be suspended for the TaxSlayer Bowl after his arrest Saturday on a possession of marijuana charge.
“Chauncey won’t play in the bowl game,” Georgia interim head coach Bryan McClendon said. “He’s going to be suspended for the bowl game.”
It’s Rivers second marijuana arrest this season, which under Georgia athletic policy means a four-game suspension. So that would include the first three games of the 2016 season, but McClendon referred to discipline beyond the bowl to new head coach Kirby Smart, who is finishing at Alabama.
“My focus is on this bowl game,” McClendon said.
