Kirby Smart has hired Fernando Velasco to join his staff on the Georgia Football team. According to Sethe Emerson at Dawgnation.com, Velasco will be joining the staff in an off the field role. He will be a players relations coordinator with the team.
Velasco played at UGA between 2003 and 2006 and was named an all SEC player in his final year. Despite not being a particularly highly rated player coming out of college, he was able to put together a pretty respectable professional career. He made the Tenessee Titans team as an undrafted free agent and would play for them for 5 years.
