One of the most prestigious position awards in college football released their preseason watch list Wednesday. The Doak Walker Award for the best running back has completed their short list of candidates. Georgia football fans will be happy to know that sophomore D’Andre Swift is on that list.
Swift is coming off an impressive freshman season where he had 771 all-purpose yards with four touchdowns as a third-string tailback. Considering the two players ahead of him were modern legends Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, 771 yards is a chunk.
The Doak Walker Award is named after the 1948 Heisman Trophy winner who played for the SMU Mustangs.
