No surprises out of Athens with a recent open records request by several news outlets covering Georgia football. The request reveals what many already predicted, outside linebackers coach Dan Lanning is the new defensive coordinator. He also receives a $450,000 raise, increasing his salary to $750,000.
Lanning’s promotion was likely tipped to media much earlier though. Back during Sugar Bowl practices, Lanning represented the defense to reporters. The promotion makes him a defensive coordinator for the first time in his career. Lanning also turned down former DC Mel Tucker’s offer to join him in Colorado.
