Georgia-Florida game to stay in Jacksonville until 2023

Jacksonville mayor Lenny Curry announced on Friday that the Georgia-Florida football game will remain in Jacksonville until 2023, with the option to extend through 2025.

With the current contract set to expire in 2021, Jacksonville was able to get another two years, likely four, out of the new agreement.

“Jacksonville has been the proud of the Florida-Georgia game since 1933,” Curry said. “And under our new agreement that will continue through 2023, with an option to keep the game an additional two years through 2025.”

According to Curry, last year’s economic impact on the city of Jacksonville topped $30m.
