For the most part, the reaction to Mark Richt no longer being the coach at Georgia has been a case of “Thanks for a good job, coach.”
That is as it should be because the football program is in much better shape than when he took over in late December 2000 from Jim Donnan.
Georgia’s average record in his first 14 seasons was 10-3; that’s what the Bulldogs will finish this season if they win their bowl game. And Richt has had 80 players under his watch drafted by NFL teams.
His greatest sin is that he didn’t win enough SEC championships; he won two, with none since 2005.
