Kirby Smart knows about having great defenses under his control from his days at Alabama. While Smart was the defensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide, he saw the group rank as high as number one nationally for total defense in 2011 and 2012.

This Georgia defense is currently third nationally for total defense, yielding only 244 yards per game. Smart was asked to compare this group to the ones he had at Alabama and said the proper comparison is one tied to Georgia’s history.
