Following an underwhelming 9-3 regular season for the Georgia Bulldogs, long-time head coach Mark Richt has been fired. This is a shocking development considering the timing of the firing, as well as the history of success that Richt has had between the hedges at Sanford Stadium.
This was Richt’s fifteenth season in Athens, a tenure featuring two SEC titles, six SEC East titles, and two Sugar Bowl victories. Richt, a two-time SEC Coach of the Year, fell victim to the lofty expectations that come with the territory of being an SEC head football coach in this day and age.
