Matthew Downing, the freshman quarterback out of Alpharetta High School, will be transferring after redshirting his freshman season.
Downing chose the Bulldogs as a preferred walk-on instead of taking scholarship offers to Montana State or Southern Illinois. The Peach State native will now enroll at Texas Christian University (TCU) and begin classes for the second semester.
Downing leaves Georgia after the recent signings of 4-star dual-threat quarterback Dwan Mathis and former Bulldog Stetson Bennett.
The Horned Frogs have a need at quarterback in Fort Worth, though Kansas State graduate Alex Delton announced his intentions to transfer to TCU.
