The NFL preseason came to a close last Thursday, which meant the unfortunate reality of trimming rosters to 53 players over the weekend.
Unfortunately, former Georgia running back Elijah Holyfield was cut by the Carolina Panthers Sunday, just one day after initially making the roster.
The Panthers filed two waiver claims, which forced them to release two players on the 53-man roster.
Holyfield was one of those players, but luckily, he has now found a new role. The Woodward Academy graduate signed with Carolina’s practice squad on Monday, where he will work to earn a spot on the big league roster.
