Former UGA, Dolphins legend Stanfill dies at 69

Bill Stanfill, the Georgia defensive lineman who went on to play for the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins in the NFL, died Thursday at age 69.

The Macon Telegraph reported that Stanfill died in hospice care in Albany.

Stanfill played defensive tackle at Georgia from 1966 to 1968, when he earned consensus All-American honors and won the Outland Trophy as college football's top interior lineman.

Stanfill was selected 11th overall by the Dolphins in the 1969 NFL draft and played eight seasons, all in Miami. He won two Super Bowl titles, including with the 1972 Dolphins team that finished 17-0, the only NFL team to finish an entire season with a perfect record.
