Former Georgia defensive tackle and professional wrestling legend Bill Goldberg won the WWE Universal Championship Sunday night.
Goldberg defeated former champion Kevin Owens in 22 seconds to capture his first world title since 2003. The former WCW superstar returned to action last November after a 12-year hiatus from WWE to defeat Brock Lesnar at “Survivor Series.” Lesnar is scheduled to face Goldberg in a rematch at WrestleMania 33 on April 2.
Goldberg, 50, is the second-oldest competitor to hold a WWE World Championship trailing company chairman Vince McMahon, who won the WWE Championship at age 54 in 1999.
