ATHENS, Ga.— Kirby Smart was supposedly not happy about the lack of holding penalties called on Auburn when the teams played their first game this season. Smart was so upset about the lack of calls that he brought it up to “SEC on CBS” broadcasters Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson before their broadcast of the Kentucky game one week later.
Danielson relayed the message during Saturday’s Iron Bowl telecast.
“When we talked with Kirby Smart following the Auburn game, he felt that Auburn got away with a lot of holds in the secondary against his receivers,” Danielson said.
