Robert Tyler looked human Friday night, but he was still good enough to give the Diamond Dogs a win on the opening night of Southeastern Conference play as Georgia beat Kentucky, 5-2.
Tyler allowed a career-high seven walks, but the Bulldogs ace escaped giving up only two earned runs. Georgia (14-5, 1-0 SEC) may not have won without his clutch pitches, so coach Scott Stricklin was quick to praise Tyler’s resiliency.
“Robert found a way to win,” Stricklin said. “He wasn’t at his best tonight. He just found a way to get us through five innings.
