The Diamond Dawgs headed into the SEC Tournament on Tuesday needing a win to strengthen their case for an NCAA bid.
Mission accomplished.
In a game where a loss would have possibly meant postseason hopes taking a major hit, eighth-seeded Georgia topped ninth seed LSU 4-1, and it did all of its damage in the first inning with four runs. Three of them came off the bat of Chaney Rogers as he ripped a three-run double.
Georgia’s only run allowed came in the top of first, but it could have been much worse. Luke Wagner allowed LSU to load the bases, coming out of it with just one run allowed.
