Tom Crean’s squad overcame some spotty shooting tonight to move to 4-0 on the young season, downing the Montana Grizzlies 63-50 in Athens.
While point guard Sahvir Wheeler had led the Bulldogs with a trio of double-doubles to start the season, tonight it was sophomore forward Toumani Camara’s turn to step up. Camara put in 15 points on the night, but he was really a force on the boards, snatching 17 rebounds, a career high.
The Red and Black held a 49-30 edge in rebounding and also picked up 14 second chance points, the difference in a game in which they were held well below their season scoring average.
