With the NFL Draft just days away, former UGA cornerback Deandre Baker is Georgia’s leading candidate to be selected in the first round.
The Jim Thorpe Award winner is as good a lockdown corner as anyone in this draft. Though he may not be blazing fast, he simply does not allow his opponent to get the best of him. He does not allow touchdowns or big plays, and he is quick to bring a receiver down after a short gain. He is physical and fast enough to do what it takes.
CBS Sports, in making NFL comparisons for some of the top defensive backs in this draft, wrote that Baker reminds them of Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White, a former first round pick out LSU, who has started 32 games in his two years in the NFL.
