It was an obvious choice, really.
The SEC announced that Georgia outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter was awarded its Defensive Player of the Week award after his performance in Saturday's 20-19 win over Notre Dame.
Carter tallied one sack, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in the win. He finished the game with seven total tackles. His second fumble recovery, which came off of a sack from teammate Davin Bellamy, sealed the win for Georgia.
In addition to his prowess rushing the quarterback, Carter was asked multiple times to drop into coverage. He also played a key role in run support, with Georgia holding Notre Dame to only 55 rushing yards for the entire game.
