29 current or former University of Georgia athletes are competing on behalf of 13 countries in the Tokyo Olympics. And on the first full day of Olympic competition several made their presence known.
UGA swimmers Chase Kalisz and Jay Litherland finished first and second in the men’s 400 IM to get the U.S. its first medals of the games. Not long after former ‘Dawg Hali Flickinger used a strong finishing kick to earn bronze in the women’s 400 IM.
Rounding things out, Bulldog swimmers Allison Schmitt and Olivia Smoliga helped the U.S.A. to a bronze in the 4x100 freestyle relay.
