ATLANTA — In 1990, Ray Goff was in his second season at Georgia when he brought a young graduate assistant named Mike MacIntyre onto the Bulldogs coaching staff.
At the time, of course, there was no way for Goff to know who MacIntyre would one day become.
Twenty-six years later Thursday, Goff, in his fourth season as the head coach at Colorado, won the Home Depot Coach of the Year Award at the annual College Football Awards.
“Ray’s the one that hired me and I talk to Ray a couple times a year,” MacIntyre said. “I really appreciate him giving me an opportunity.
