The excitement from Deandre Baker a week or two ago about his plans to play in the Sugar Bowl ended up being a bit premature.
As the team arrived in New Orleans on Thursday to prepare for the Sugar Bowl, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart announced that Baker will not play for the Bulldogs in the bowl game, after all. Baker, whose career in Athens ends as one of the program’s best defensive backs in school history, actually practiced with the team until it broke for the holidays on Dec. 20, so one can gather that this decision came after time with his family during the break.
