Five-star tight end Isaac Nauta (Buford, GA) announced his commitment to Georgia during the fourth quarter of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The 6'3", 244-pounder chose the Bulldogs over Michigan and Alabama.
As the top-ranked tight end in the country, Nauta joins a UGA class that ranks 5th in the country. They were ranked 10th prior to this commitment.
Many saw this commitment coming as Nauta decided to return to his home state to play with the top-ranked quarterback in the country, Jacob Eason, as the two were thought to be a package deal.
Nauta had originally committed to Florida State early in his high school career, but decided to re-open his recruitment in July. Since then, Nauta said his phone never stopped ringing:
“The recruiting process was a lot of fun, and it got crazy after I re-opened my commitment,” Nauta told USA Today. “I was committed to Florida State for nine months and really thought that’s where I was going. After I re-opened my commitment, I think my phone died in about 20 minutes from everybody calling me and blowing me up, it was crazy.”
