College football's unique in that a single loss could mean the difference between a conference championship (or the ultimate regular-season goal, a College Football Playoff spot) and becoming an also-ran in the FBS ranks. If the Georgia Bulldogs want to reach their goal of making the College Football Playoff in 2016, they can afford a maximum of one loss. Here are UGA's five toughest games heading into this year:
5. North Carolina Tar Heels (September 3rd)
The first game of the season is always tough, but facing a very good UNC team looking to prove that last year's success wasn't a fluke makes this even tougher. Even though it's a neutral site game, playing in the Georgia Dome gives the Bulldogs an advantage.
4. Auburn Tigers (November 12th)
Auburn is looking to get back on track after an underachieving 2015 season, and they still have just as much talent as anyone else in the conference. The Tigers are expected to have a rebound season as a result, so Georgia shouldn't take them lightly.
3. Florida Gators (October 29th)
The games are always close when these two get together in Jacksonville, and I don't anticipate this one being any different. The winner will be in the driver's seat in the SEC East.
2. Tennessee Volunteers (October 1st)
Speaking of critical SEC East matchups, most experts are picking either Georgia or Tennessee to win it. Whoever comes out on top in this game should win the division.
1. at Ole Miss Rebels (September 24th)
Ole Miss doesn't just have their sights set on winning the SEC - this rising program wants to qualify for the playoff. They certainly have the talent to do so, and playing them in their backyard will easily be UGA's most difficult task this season.
