WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women’s basketball team has earned a berth in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) and will host Fordham University at McDonough Arena on Friday at 7 p.m. GU is currently 17-12 on the season and finished with a 9-9 record in the BIG EAST, earning the No. 6 seed at the 2017 BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament.
This marks Georgetown’s second-consecutive postseason berth after falling in a heartbreaker at Rutgers, 57-55, in the first round of last year’s postseason WNIT. Georgetown trailed by six with three minutes to go, but tied it at 55 on a Dionna White (Baltimore, Md.
