WASHINGTON - Georgetown University football freshman linebacker Wesley Bowers (Fort Washington, Md./Bishop McNamara) has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. The honor recognizes his performance in Georgetown's contest at Bucknell on Saturday.
Bowers finished with a career and game-high 10 tackles in GU's tough 12-0 loss to the Bison. He led a defense that allowed less than 20 points for the third time in the past four games. The Hoyas held Bucknell to less than 300 yards of total offense, including just 50 yards of offense in the first quarter and 46 yards in the second quarter.
