WASHINGTON - Former Georgetown University women’s basketball player Sugar Rodgers was named the WNBA 6th Woman of the Year earlier this week. Rodgers and the New York Liberty are currently the third seed in the playoffs facing the Washington Mystics in the second round of the playoffs. Additionally, former Hoya Rebekkah Brunson and the Minnesota Lynx were the top seed in the playoffs.
Rodgers was instrumental in helping the Liberty secure the No. 3 seed in the WNBA Playoffs, and end the regular season on a franchise record tying 10-game winning streak. The Liberty finished 22-12 overall, matching the second best regular season record in franchise history, while posting a third consecutive 20-win season for the first time in franchise history.
