Patrick Ewing returns to coach Hoyas

Patrick Ewing is returning to the Hilltop.

According to several reports Monday afternoon, the former Hoya star has agreed to a multi-year deal that will make him Georgetown’s new head coach, replacing John Thompson III. Ewing will start immediately, leaving his position as the associate head coach of the Charlotte Hornets.

Ewing starred at Georgetown from 1981-85 and led the school to its only national championship in 1984. He later went on to become an 11-time NBA All Star. He has been an NBA assistant coach for the past 15 years.

Ewing takes over a Georgetown program that went 14-18 this past season, good for ninth in the Big East.
