Butler’s Chris Holtmann will be the next coach at Ohio State, per multiple sources. The deal is reported as 8 years, $3.1m per season, a significant pay increase for Holtmann who was making just north of $1m per season at Butler.
Butler fans are pissed and with good reason, as Holtmann carried the Brad Stevens torch well into the program’s transition to the Big East and had Butler as one of the conference’s better teams on an annual basis.
Ohio State had offered the job to Creighton’s Greg McDermott who turned it down.
Butler has a 6-man recruiting class coming in and the next live period starts on July 12th, so the school will likely fill the void quickly.
