WASHINGTON - Georgetown University football’s sophomore wide receiver Michael Dereus (Hyde Park, Mass./Williston Northampton) earned Patriot League Honorable Mention honors on Monday, recognizing his efforts in Saturday’s home opener against Marist.
Dereus had four catches for a team-high 72 yards and a touchdown as GU’s second-half comeback fell just short in a 14-12 loss to the Red Foxes. The sophomore pulled the Blue & Gray within two points in the fourth quarter with a 44-yard touchdown reception, out-battling his defender on a deep pass from Tim Barnes (Oradell, N.J./River Dell Regional). It was Dereus’ second touchdown reception in as many weeks to start the season after he hauled in six passes for 114 yards and a score in GU’s season-opening victory at Campbell.
