WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Football Head Coach Rob Sgarlata announced on Friday that Maurice Banks has been promoted to special teams coordinator. Banks - who has served as Georgetown’s defensive backs coach for the past three seasons, as well as a one-year stint in 2010 - replaces Kevin Doherty, who was promoted to defensive coordinator last month.
“I am very excited to announce Coach Maurice Banks as our new special teams coordinator,” Sgarlata said. “Moe brings a wealth of collegiate and professional experience to our staff. He is a talented and effective teacher and I look forward to him continuing to improve on our nationally-ranked special teams units from this past season.
