While Georgetown came up short in a 73-69 loss to the visiting Providence Friars on Saturday, junior Jessie Govan surpassed a major milestone in his Hoyas career.
Govan joined the 1,000 career point club at Georgetown when he sank a 3-pointer from the top of the key with 5:25 remaining in the second half against Providence to pull the Hoyas to within 66-62. Govan finished the afternoon with 20 points, going 8 for 15 from the field.
The Queens Village, NY native, who is now the 47th player in program history to score at least 1,000 points, leads the Hoyas this season in both scoring and rebounding with averages of 16.
