WASHINGTON - Georgetown University football junior defensive back Jelani Williamson (Silver Spring, Md./Good Counsel) was named the Corvias Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week when the league announced its weekly awards on Monday. The honor recognizes Williamson’s performance in GU’s game against Princeton on Saturday.
Williamson recorded his second interception in as many weeks, picking off a pass in the end zone for a touchback to halt a Princeton drive in the first quarter. He also recorded six tackles on the day, four of the solo variety, and scooped up a blocked field goal and returned it 51 yards for a touchdown to give the Hoyas an early 7-0 lead.
