WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women’s basketball team defeated the Providence College Friars (10-20, 3-15) Sunday afternoon on Senior Day at McDonough Arena in a 74-48 victory. With the win, the Hoyas finish the regular season with a mark of 14-14 overall and 9-9 in BIG EAST Conference tying for fifth in the league. GU has earned the sixth seed and a first round bye in the BIG EAST Tournament, presented by Jeep, which will begin next weekend.
“We reached our goals today on both offense and defense,” said Georgetown Head Coach James Howard. “When we’re having that type of success, we usually do well.
