WASHINGTON - Junior forward Marcus Derrickson (Bowie, Md./Brewster Academy [N.H.]) nailed a game-tying 3-pointer to force a second overtime as the Hoyas outlasted the visiting St. John’s University Red Storm for the 93-89 double-overtime win. Derrickson tallied a career-high 27 points en route to the victory that claimed the regular season sweep over the Johnnies. With the win, Georgetown improves to 13-6 on the year with a 3-5 mark in BIG EAST play.
“We were using the Syracuse and Butler games as motivation,” Derrickson said postgame. “We didn’t want to have outcomes like those again.
