WASHINGTON - Georgetown cut a 16-point second half deficit to six points twice, but Seton Hall used a late run and held off the Hoyas, 72-64, at Verizon Center Wednesday night.
Georgetown falls to 14-13 overall and 7-7 in BIG EAST play, while Seton Hall improves to 18-7 overall and 8-5 in the league.
Freshman center Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y./Wings Academy) scored a career-high 27 points and had six rebounds to lead the Hoyas, while senior guard D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central/Oak Hill) added 18 points and seven rebounds. Smith-Rivera hit two three-pointers in the game and tied Jonathan Wallace (’08) for the all-time lead in program history for career three-pointers made.
