Marquette is one of the better offensive teams in the BIG EAST. They beat No. 1 Villanova. Before that they dropped 102 points on Creighton in victory in Omaha. If you like to live by KenPom stats, they are only behind said Wildcats in offense in the conference.
That being said, after Marquette defeated Georgetown at home back on Dec 28 Golden Eagles guard JuJuan Johnson called the Hoyas effort on defense “lazy”.
“We had some behind closed door motivation for this game because some stuff going around about defense,” said Georgetown’s Rodney Pryor during the post game press conference.
