Maybe you’ve heard but if you haven’t - and that seems impossible - Georgetown alum Ted Leonsis wants to move his NBA and NHL franchises from Washington DC across the river to Alexandria, Va. This would give Ted something of a Monumental Sports and Entertainment campus. The last time those two professional franchises went on the move in the late 90’s, Georgetown men’s hoops followed right along from Landover, Md. to Chinatown.
This time, however, that doesn’t seem to be the case as their status as a major tenant in the pro arena seems to a have diminished over the last decade.
