WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women’s basketball team (2-0) used a team effort to down the Virginia Tech Hokies (2-1), 73-56, in the home opener at McDonough Arena on Wednesday evening. From late in the second quarter on, the defense forced turnovers and scored on the other end to open the home season with its second-consecutive victory.
“You could just see the excitement at the end of the game, it was almost a weight lifted off their shoulders and they did it together,” said Georgetown Head Coach Natasha Adair. “They’ve worked extremely hard, and I’m more proud of them than anything.
