WASHINGTON - Former Georgetown University women’s basketball standout Rebekkah Brunson set a WNBA record Wednesday evening becoming the first played in league history to win five WNBA Championships. Brunson and the Minnesota Lynx defeated the Los Angeles Sparks, 85-76, to win the 2017 championship in five games.
“It feels good. I think it feels better because I get to share it with this amazing team,” Brunson said Wednesday night. “These amazing players, this amazing coaching staff, this amazing organization. Everybody here deserves everything that we get.”
Brunson won her first title in 2005 with the Sacramento Monarchs.
