Fresno State quarterback Marcus McMaryion before the season was included on watch lists for a few prominent national awards — the Maxwell Award, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, the Wuerffel Trophy.
The Davey O’Brien Award, which is presented annually to the best college quarterback in the nation, was not one of them.
But nine games into the season and ranked in the top 10 nationally in completion percentage and passing efficiency rating, the senior from Dinuba on Wednesday was selected as one of 16 semifinalists for the award by the Davey O’Brien Foundation.
