Proven coaches should be high on FSU’s head coach candidate list and there are several who make sense. Florida State has seen Dave Clawson rebuild Wake Forest in the ACC: could he be a top target? Three other names have seen their coaching stock go up in recent years: PJ Fleck, Mike Norvell and Matt Campbell.
Florida State could go with a coordinator hire, and two Clemson coaches make sense: Tony Elliott and Jeff Scott.
Taggart’s firing won’t be cheap: It will cost about $17 million, plus money owed to assistant coaches will be fired once the next head coach is hired. Taggart struggled in less than 2 years, showing no signs of growth, forcing an expensive change.
