With Sean Maguire injured, young FSU quarterbacks face challenges

TALLAHASSEE — FSU's already complicated quarterback situation became a little more convoluted this week when incumbent starter Sean Maguire underwent surgery to repair a fractured ankle.

The injury will likely keep Maguire out of FSU's 15 spring football practices. As a result, redshirt freshman Deondre Francois and true freshman Malik Henry – and, to a lesser extent, rising sophomore J.J. Cosentino – will take more meaningful reps when spring practice begins.

"I would say it's Offense 101," former UCF offensive coordinator Charlie Taaffe said with a chuckle when asked what the Seminoles will be trying to accomplish on offense.
