On Friday, Noles247 reported that Florida State landed its sixth player out of the transfer portal as former UMass-Lowell G Martin Somerville committed to the Seminoles out of the portal. Noles247 also reported that Somerville visited Tallahassee on Wednesday, beating out BYU for his services. Somerville is from the DMV area, a powerhouse region for basketball, and played one season at UMass-Lowell.

While first-year head coach Luke Loucks prioritized experience in the transfer portal, he changed course by picking up Somerville, a freshman in 2024-25, starting 12 games.
